Eric C. Malone

Pastor Eric C. Malone was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana.  He is the son of the late Ernest M. Malone and Mary E. (Hilliard) Malone, and the eldest of five siblings.  He was married to the late Karon Louise Neal Malone for 19 years, and has one son, Cory.  In October 2018 Sis. Ramona V. (Newsom) Malone became his help meet.  His personal interests and hobbies include reading books, chess, and “no-bait” fishing.

His secular education was at Shortridge High School, Indianapolis, Indiana.  After graduating in 1972, he began a 24-year stint with the United States Army.  He completed his Associate degree in General Studies with a major in Political Science from Troy State University.  He later received his Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services and Social Science (Cum Laude) from Upper Iowa University.  Striving ever forward, and obedient to the direction of the Holy Spirit, he then graduated from Western Baptist Bible College, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Education, and was an adjunct professor from 2001 to 2021.  Western also bestowed the distinction of Honorary Doctor of Divinity in 2010.

Pastor Malone was licensed to preach at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, Clarksville, Tennessee, under Pastor Jimmy Terry, Sr.  There he gained an understanding of his gifts and strengths of teaching and administration.  In 1992, Pastor Bobby Golden asked him to help at Second Baptist Church in Russell.  He was ordained in 1999 and faithfully served 25 years, including 20 years as Pastor.  In April of 2018 he accepted the call to shepherd New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Salina, and challenges us to continually strive for The Higher Standard expressed in Ephesians 4:11-13.  His total accountability of Ministry includes Pastor; Assistant Pastor; Associate Minister; Ordained Deacon; Sunday School Teacher; Usher; Young Deacons Advisor; Laymen; Brotherhood; Music Ministry; and Constitution and Bylaws Committees.

As a member of the Smoky Hill District Association, he has held the offices of 1st and 2nd Vice Moderator; President and Vice President of the Congress of Christian Education; Dean of the School of Religion; and an instructor at multiple levels.  Service in the Missionary Baptist State Convention of Kansas includes 3rd Vice President of the Ministers Council; 2nd Vice President of the State Congress of Christian Education; and instructor.

Service to the community:  On-Call Chaplain for the former Geary Community Hospital; facilitator of a Bible Study at Flint Hills Job Corps for approximately five years; Inter-State Advisory Board Member to a Senior Pastor in St. Charles, Missouri; a 25-year career with Pawnee Mental Health Services; NAACP Member; leadership of the church’s monthly food, clothing, and hygiene Outreach for an average of 50 transient/homeless families.

Pastor Malone loves God in heart, mind and soul, and Jesus as his Savior.  His sustaining scripture is Christ’s teaching of hope in the Beatitudes of Matthew 5:1-12.
